When in Hong Kong

As soon as we landed in Hong Kong, we were greeted with the skyline wrapped in mist, the air heavy with the promise of rain. My gal pal / cousin Helena and I had planned a last-minute spontaneous trip, blissfully unaware that the cyclone season was waiting to make its grand entrance just as we arrived. All the main attractions were closed, the wind was wild, and yet… There was something so majestic about it all.

So instead of letting the stormy weather warnings get us down, we slipped into our dresses, grabbed the complimentary umbrella that was provided in our room, and let the city lead the way… as Hong Kong never slows down.

Our first night was spent wandering through the local night markets. Oh my goodness, the scent of the sizzling street food being cooked fresh was wafting through the air. I bought all my special loved ones a silk Kimono, and I bought myself a beautiful traditional dress. There is something so beautiful about the night markets in Hong Kong… they hum with life, laughter, and a beautiful chaos that is sure to keep you immersed.

This is a rather short travel blog as the weather did impact the trip's checklist; however, we still managed to try wonderful traditional foods.

And when the rain does clear up, you will be sure to see Hong Kong's softer side.

Even with rain-soaked shoes and hair that refused to cooperate, Hong Kong reminded me of something I often forget while traveling… It’s not about checking off a list. It’s about the mood, the moments, the stories you bring home.

So when in Hong Kong, allow yourself to be captivated! X
