Mole Famau

Sunrise & Soulmates: Climbing Moel Famau

This Valentine’s weekend, we skipped crowded restaurants and did something that felt far more us. We climbed Moel Famau. Just me and my man, a packed lunch, and a 5 am alarm that honestly felt illegal at the time.

And it turned out to be the most perfect ending to our Valentine’s weekend.

There’s something quietly romantic about setting off while the world is still asleep. The air was crisp, our breath visible in the dark, and everything felt still and untouched. No noise. No distractions. Just us, a McDonald's breakfast, and old tunes blasting in the car from the 70s.

Moel Famau isn’t Everest, but at that hour, with our legs still sleepy and the promise of sunrise ahead, it felt like an adventure. We talked about everything and nothing. Future plans. Random memories. Silly jokes. Those conversations that only seem to happen when you’re walking side by side, with nowhere else to be.

And being out in nature just does something to your brain.

The stress you didn’t realise you were holding? Gone.

The mental clutter? Cleared.

The constant background noise of life? Switched off.

It’s like nature resets you. It slows you down in the best possible way.

That moment at the top

When we reached the summit, and the sky softened from a clear view to a soft white blur, it honestly took my breath away. Everything below us felt small and peaceful.

We found a quiet spot near the Jubilee Tower, wrapped up warm, and just sat there for a short moment.

No phones. ( well, except for the occasional selfie )

No rush.

Just us.

It was one of those rare, beautiful moments where you feel completely present. I looked at him, with the beautiful sky behind him, and felt this overwhelming wave of gratitude. For the weekend. For the climb. For him. Especially for him.

I am so in love with him.

Why Nature Feels Like Therapy

I always forget how powerful being outdoors is until I’m actually out there. Climbing Moel Famau reminded me that:

⛰︎ Fresh air clears your head.

⛰︎ Movement shifts your mood.

⛰︎ Silence deepens connection.

⛰︎ Shared challenges strengthen love.

When you strip everything back. no distractions, no noise. You really see each other.

And I think that’s why it felt so meaningful.

Watching the sunrise with the person you love, after dragging yourselves out of bed at 5am, climbing a hill in the cold, and sharing a slightly squashed sandwich at the top... well, that’s the kind of memory that sticks.

If you ever get the chance to start your day on a mountain with someone you love, take it.

Because sometimes the most romantic thing you can do… is just watch the sun come up together.

And honestly? I would do it with him again in a heartbeat.
